Plumbing & Electric doesn't need much preparation for winter; just a little. If you have a crawl space, be sure to close the foundation vents. Better yet, insulate them and never open them again. Open vents allow the wind to blow cold under your home in the winter. This freezes pipes and toes on tile or vinyl floors. In the summer it lets the breeze to suck the A/C out from under your home and drop off hot, humid air, along with quite a bit of condensation to make the space more comfortable........for mold and mildew!
